How long will my first appointment last?
Your first appointment at Brazos Dental Associates sets the stage for our continued dental relationship. First impressions are important, and we want you to be completely comfortable with us. In addition, the initial exam will provide us both with an overview of the condition of your oral health and allow us to develop a plan for treatment that is customized precisely for your needs.
We generally plan two hours for an initial exam and cleaning. Dr. Rychetsky uses the time to:
- Review your medical and dental history
- Take digital x-rays as needed
- Chart your teeth and existing restorations
- Talk to you about your chief concerns
Dr. Rychetksy then assesses developing cavities and will review with you any needed dental work. This includes the general overall health of your mouth to check for gum disease, cavities, oral cancer, and any problems developing with your TMJ muscles. While most patients go on to have their regular preventive cleaning at this time, patients who have gum disease will be scheduled to come back for deep cleanings specifically designed to address the condition.
